Want an easy way to order print? MSA has great tips to help you achieve the best quality print possible!

File Formats

Digital Printing: Adobe PDF file formats are preferred, but we accept the following: TIF, JPG, PDF, PS, EPS, and PSD ( Adobe InDesign, Adobe Illustrator, Quark Express, etc.)

Press Printing: Adobe PDF’s are preferrd, but we accept the following: Adobe InDesign, Quark Express, Adobe Illustrator, .EPS. *Send all document related files (fonts, graphics, etc.) along with native files. Please feel free to call us with any questions!

CMYK Color Mode: We try to keep coloring consistent. In order to achieve this, please submit files in CMYK color mode. For Spot Color match (PMS or Pantone match) please note the specific color codes. We can work with color standard, such as RGB. *Please note that conversion using color standard may cause color change.

Rich Black: If you are looking to achieve an area of solid black in a document please use Rich Black: C:50%/ M:40%/Y40%/K100% * Please note that 100% black (K) will not result in a solid, saturated black.

Bleeds: If your color is printed to the edge of a page, please make sure it extends at least .125” beyond the final dimensions of your job to allow for cutting variation.

Printing with borders: When using a border in your design, please use atleast.25” of blank space from your border to the cut line.

Border-Minimum Line Thickness: If using a line border, please make sure to make the line at least .25 pt thick to assure it prints correctly

Low Resolution Images: Graphics/Images, such as TIFF’s and JPEG’s, must have a resolution between 300 dpi (dots per inch) and higher *Images with less than 300 dpi will most likely reproduce poorly on the printing press.

File Type: Adobe PDF files are usually preferred when outputting a job. However, we can print from any of the major design and layout programs (either PC or MAC platform)! * If you send us application files such as Quark or Adobe InDesign, be sure to include all images and fonts.

Compressing Files: Transfer across the internet (via email or FTP) can strip files of important code identifying them as valid TIFFs or EPS’s etc. Compressing files can help avoid these errors. *Suggested compressions are ZIP, Stuffit, and Windows XP (which contains a built in compression program)

Missing Images: All images used in your layout are required for printing. If all images are not supplied, you will be asked to resubmit them. Low resolution images, such as a logo or photo published in a website, will not print to an acceptable level of quality.

Show Hidden Font Characters: Every font field ends with an infinity symbol. If there are symbols in your artwork without any type before, please delete those fields or make sure the fonts are outlined.

Art Work Containing Gradients: Gradients are commonly used in printing and most often have great results! However, gradients below 10% may not reproduce correctly. * Whether your file is a Vector or a Raster, for the best results, please make sure they are more than 10%

U.S. Postal Regulation: The Post Office requires all mailing postcards to meet certain requirements. Please check out USPS.com or contact us for more detailed information. *USPS may not mail if there are any mistakes (ex: paper size, weight, pt.size, content, postage, indicia, etc.)
